Our Vision, Mission & Values‍ ‍

Vision: Thriving, resilient Australian seagrass meadows that are understood, valued, and protected for generations.

Mission: To accelerate the recognition, recovery, and resilience of seagrass ecosystems in Australia and the Indo‑Pacific through applied science, community empowerment, and connected conservation.

Our Values

Resilience: We reflect the qualities of the ecosystems we protect - persistence, adaptability, and the ability to recover stronger than before.

Scientific integrity: We champion rigorous, transparent, and evidence‑based science that informs real‑world conservation outcomes.

Independence: We act swiftly and decisively, free from bureaucratic constraints, to protect seagrass where action is needed.

Community: We believe conservation succeeds when communities are empowered, informed, and supported.

Passion: We are driven by a deep commitment to Australia’s marine ecosystems and the people who depend on them.

Our Pillars

01

CONDUCT RESEARCH

We generate and apply rigorous scientific knowledge to improve conservation outcomes and restoration success.

SUPPORT & EMPOWER

02

We build capacity in communities, organisations, and decision‑makers to support the long-term conservation of resilient seagrass ecosystems.

03

COMMUNITY ACTION

We enable hands‑on stewardship through shared knowledge, citizen science, active monitoring, and local leadership.

OUR SCIENCE

Our research focusses on understanding seagrass responses to pressure, resilience and vulnerability in WA. Improving our knowledge base of multiple species and populations gives us the best chance of protecting these ecosystems for generations to come.
